I need help on what ford used on 1966 f-100 front fenders. It's been several years since I took my fenders off and I can't remember what ford used. I think cage nuts were used but not sure. Also bolt size and thread count course or fine thread. If anyone could I would appreciate the help. Jerry
Jerry:
It depends on which part of the fender. Everything, for the most part is 5/16 NC. Attaching the fender to the inner apron uses one inch long bolts with a toothed flat washer, a smooth flat washer and a stover nut. The stover is a lock nut, but not a nylock, it has a bevel on the outside surface. Attaching the fender to the radiator support uses one inch bolts and extruded type u-nuts. The u-nuts clip on to the part that is supporting the fender. There a couple other fasteners, for example, where the fender attaches to the rocker panel and the kick panel area. Let me know if you need photos. I have all the fasteners, it would just take me some time to lay them out and upload photos.

Gents, I hope these photos help. All fasteners are 5/16" NC, except the last photo of the studs, those are 3/8" NC. In order of appearance:
1)Fender at top to inner apron and rad. support: 1" bolt w/ stover nuts, captive tooth gripwasher and flat washer, 5 sets
2) Fender forward to radiator support: 1" bolt, captive gripwasher with extruded U-nut, 5 sets
3) Fender to rocker panel 1" bolt, captive gripwasher and "captive" J-nut, 1 set
4) Inner fender apron to firewall (1966) rubber mount: 3/4" bolt w/ washer, 2 sets
5) Fender to firewall, bolt in cab w/ pad: 1" bolt, captive star lockwasher and "captive" J-nut, 1 set
6) Fender to lower fwd brace: 1" bolt with captive gripwasher and flange nut, 1 set
7) Inner fender apron to firewall (1965)??: 3/8" x 2" stud....I'm not sure about this piece, would have to find my notes, as I didn't have this on my 66.
resonateur - This is exactly what I have been looking for. Great pictures - Thank you very much. This will certainly help when reassembling the front clip !

I don’t have an answer to your specific question, but I do have the Auveco fastener part numbers. These will be a lot cheaper if you buy them by the box or in bulk than paying someone to put a kit together for you.
The bolts are Auveco part #A17035....5/16-18 x 1 1/16" yellow zinc with a captive washer. They come in a box of 25. I used 1 1/2 boxes because I used them to mount the fenders as well as the hood catch and some other parts, so you will only need one box if you're just doing the grille, rock guard and valance. The "tubular" U-nuts are part #12265...5/16 - 18 & 9/16 from hole center to edge. They come in a box of 50 and I have half of them left. I can send them to you for mailing cost if you would like, unless you're getting both items for the same shipping cost. You will need some 5/16" flat washers which you can find in your local hardware store. You will need some 5/16" "stover" locknuts which you can find if you have a local bolt house. I bought a bulk bag...so I can send you those as well and include them with the tube nuts for the same cost of shipping. I have a bunch of 'em, so glad to help you out if you don't have a local source
. You may also need just a few 5/16 flange nuts. I use these where it's hard to get a "back up" wrench, such as the top of the valance where it mounts into the holes in the radiator support. These will tighten...once snug...without a backup wrench. You can find the bolts through "clipsandfasteners.com" or just search for them on google or ebay. Let me know if you need any additional help.
