Hey guys and gals thanks for reading. I have been working on my wiring and cleaning it up. I've added the headlight relays and the 3G alternator. I've also added a small fuse junction by the starter relay.
Now I'm looking to either rewire the rest of the harness or replace the current fuse box with maybe a Centech fuse box. I kinda want to keep the original wiring for the color schematics and also it's not bad just old. But the fuse box could use an upgrade.
I've looked at the wiring harnesses out there and it seems like a lot of work. I bought an extra harness at the pick your part that looks pretty good.
Anyways has anyone just replaced the fuse box? Is this a good idea or just replace the whole harness?
So I purchased a Centech fuse panel to replace my hacked up original. I haven't started yet. I'm looking to clean up my original wiring harness to. When I put in my 78 tilt column I eliminated the original glove box hazard switch.
Now with this Centech panel I can clean up more wiring with the horn relay being in the panel. Currently I don't have a horn and the horn relay has already been removed, so I'm kinda starting over there.
Anyways the Centech fuse panel looks good and I'm hoping not only to clean up the original harness but even reroute some of the original wiring. I have the headlight relays, and running the Duraspark. Cleaning up the engine bay of wires and rerouting would look better.
Here you can see my new fusebox. I bought it at ebay. Its from a boat.
looks good.
I have been studying the witing schematic trying trying to figure out the best set up for me. I'm trying to really clean up my wiring. Since installing a 3G, eliminated wiring but then adding headlight relays and a fuel pump relay, I have wires spread out. I want to minimize the wiring in the engine compartment for a cleaner look. Also for the simplicity.
No no more hazard switch and also now I can put the horn relay, which I currently don't have, in my fuse panel.
Anyways I will he finally doing this in the next few weeks.
I renewed the complete electric by myself. I bought new wiring in the original colour, with a slightly larger cross-section. I used headlight relays and a lot of other "special" stuff....
