Question about changing the fuel filter
#16
Saturday evening I had my oil and fuel filters changed at the Ford Quick Lane. I has the last truck in line before quitting time; I told myself "do I really want to be the last truck these guys work on when all they want to do is go home?". Well, I should have listened, but did not.
About half way home (70 miles), I got the "Low Fuel Pressure" message, followed by the "Reduced Engine Power" and the CEL along with my fuel pump making unhappy noises. Of course it was now about 8pm on Saturday night so nothing to do but continue. I made it home and that is where it sits now. Obviously they did something wrong with the filter(s); gasket, cap not tight, whatever.
I am leaving in a few minutes to limp back to the dealership; I will let you know the outcome.

It's your truck, but I'd be making the dealership tow your truck back before risking any more engine damage.

They bled the air out, cleared the codes said it was ok. I drove it around the block and took it back because the fuel pump was still making noise. When they gave it back the second time, I was told the cap on the frame mounted filter was not tight.
Drove it home and all seems ok now (other than a wasted day).

Started the truck up with no alarm messages except the CEL; it ran fine most of the way back to the dealership; the "Low Fuel Pressure" warning came in about 30 miles out.
