Fuel leak ?

When I got off work today I noticed a small spot on the ground. Got under my truck and saw the end of the fuel bowl drain pipe was wet. Does that yellow drain valve leak, and is there a kit to rebuild or replace it ? Where do you guys recommend that I buy it ? Also, is it difficult to do in the driveway ? Any advice is appreciated here, I have never had fuel bowl problems before. Is this a problem, or am I getting excited about nothing ?

The o rings leak on the fuel bowl drain. You can replace the whole valve $ 40ish off eBay with OEM valve or just replace the orings. I replaced the whole valve because I wasn't sure if it was the original... Plastic gets brittle when exposed to fuel and high heat.

Look at this on eBay:

Thanks again you guys, for the instant advice. You guys are better than having the dealership mechanic in my living room. Faster too ! Really great. Is it fairly straightforward to pull the bowl and rebuild it ? The directions Colorado 350 sent make it look real easy.

Yup very easy. Took me 30 minutes, I lost a small screw and a hot engine bit me. I took a magnet and retrieved it. Drain fuel, loosen /remove 4 screws, replace with new valve snug bolts, key ignition look for leaks...

I bought my truck and noticed it leaking on drive home. I second the diesel o rings site. I bought mine there and did the rebuild in 30 mins using the write up from Guzzle. http://www.guzzle7pt3.com/fbowl.php

Its real easy and shouldn't take much time. Best of luck.

You can do that also. Diesel o rings or riffraffdiesel.Com has the kit. Just make sure you get the spring in straight.

I am looking at the billet aluminum FPR housing on the dielel O-rings site. This appears to replace the FPR rebuild kit, and costs less. Am I correct in this conclusion ? Has anyone installed this replacement for unit ? It includes 3 different springs too. Is any modification necessary, or does it bolt right up ???

All the parts I need are on the way from Diesel O-rings. If they get here by the weekend I am in business. Thanks again for all your help, guys. One last question: the fuel bowl is bolted to the HPOP. Are these the two bolt heads on the front of the HPOP housing, facing the front of the truck ? They go thru the HPOP and into the fuel bowl ???

I just rebuilt my fuel drain because it was leaking in the valley. I replaced the two o-rings but for the life of me couldn't get the two pieces apart to change the inside o-ring. I worked but wish I could of got the inside o-ring replaced to. The blue o-rings are the up dated pieces to the body.

My build thread, starting at post 69 has pics and some tips on the fuel bowl.

https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...he-ugly-2.html

It helps to unplug the EBP sensor, which is in front of the radiator on the passenger side, right in the way of the one bolt.

FYI. The bolts go THROUGH the HPOP, but the HPOP isn't removed by those two bolts and oil will NOT leak out when you remove them

If you are going to add a fuel pressure sensor, NOW is the time, while the bowl is removed.

You should also order Parker sleeves for the fuel lines, where they connect to the fuel bowl. Unless you've already replaced them, they are likely completely shot and will have to be dug out with a metal pick.

Here's a Tip: Collect a little diesel fuel into a container. Lube your orings and parts before installing.

I used 9mil Black nitrile gloves from Harbor Freight to keep my hands decent.

Make sure you remove the center stand in the fuel bowl and the fuel bowl heater and CLEAN the bowl while it is out.

It's also a good idea to remove and reinstall the two plugs commonly used for fuel pressure sensors. They might be stiff, so doing it now makes it easier later.

Gasoila is the thread sealant of choice on these diesel fuel systems.

Did I miss anything, guys?
