Oh, and thanks for the additional tips. The O-ring kit I ordered comes with new sleeves for the fuel lines, and blue O-rings for the drain valve. I also got the aluminum FPR kit, with the pressure nut and an additional fuel line sleeve. I have a Motorcraft fuel filter on hand, and some laquer thinner and brake cleaner to rinse out the bowl. Did I forget anything guys ???
Update: Got the fuel bowl out tonight after work, in a rainstorm ... Good Times ! Didn't manage to break anything, and it was fairly straightforward, thanks to all of the great help from the Brotherhood. You guys are the best. O rings were all eaten up, and so were the fuel compression sleeves, as expected. Got it all cleaned up, just waiting for the kit to arrive in the morning. Also pulled my EBPV and cleaned out all the crap in the valve and fittings, and replaced the tube. Boy was it crapped up, and this was a good chance to get that done. More on this project later ...
noticed in your signature that you have the Jasper HD4R100 trans and 3 disc torque converter. How is that doing for you and what did you have to spend on it, if you don't mind me asking?
It's working great for me. They came highly recommended, have made lots of upgrades to Fords original design. More clutches, more planet gears, better boost valve, new solenoid packs, valve body, etc. The 3 disc billet TC holds very strong, and can take a lot of punishment. The trans is smooth and firm, no slippage, holds the low gears very tight under throttle, and basically operates like a good tough trans should. Jasper sells the TC with the 4R100 for $2800, and gives a 3 year/100K warranty, unlimited and transferable, and honored nationwide. I can travel across the country and be covered. That includes the labor charge to replace a defective unit. My local trans shop only uses Jasper, so I gave it a shot. You need to replace the stock cooler with the HD upgrade on our trucks to get the warranty, as it is prone to failure due to internal fin collapse. That is another $200 or so, if I remember correctly. So about $3000 altogether, plus labor, fluids etc. I called the Jasper facility in Indiana, and had a long conversation with a tech who builds these units, and the distributor who deals with the shops who carry and use these transmissions. I was satisfied with the quality and engineering after that. But I guess time will tell. Hope that answers your questions.
Now of course I wasn't quite that lucky. My flex plate had cracked, and my transfer case needed work, and it was time for U joints, etc. So after all the new parts, a completely rebuilt transfer case, and Amsoil in everything, it was $5000 and change. Yes, that's a lot, but it had to be done, and done right. So far, it looks like everything is holding together just fine.
Hey guys, while I have the fuel bowl out, I want to wrap the passenger side fuel line with something, where it passes through the bracket on the head. Any suggestions on this ? Electrical tape ? Duct tape ?
Sounds good. I got some hi- temp thread sealant that's rated for fuel, oil, hydraulic, pneumatic, and coolant lines. Is that what I need for the fuel line fittings ? It's made by Permatex and is rated at 400 degrees. Is this stuff OK to use on a diesel application ?

I wrapped mine in several layers of black tape. Only keep it from rubbing metal to metal.
Here is what I did: I split a piece of 5/16 rubber fuel line and put it over about 8 inches of the steel line. Then I bent the bracket into a circle, so it would go over the rubber line, and snugged it back down. That line doesn't touch anything now. Just one way to go I guess.
OK, thanks for clearing that up. As for the fuel line, I think the fuel hose fix will work. My sister had that line blow on her F350 with a load of hay on the trailer. Fuel dumped everywhere ! The dealer charged her over $500 to r&r that line, and the tow bill wasn't peanuts either. Just trying to avoid that fiasco, if I can ...
