I am restoring a 1978 f250... I have done a lot of work pulling the frame all the way apart removing all the factory rivets and sandblasting a por15 coating the whole frame...
I am getting to the point where ill be bolting things back together...
what do I coat my current bolts in to make them stay rust free?
I have thought of rust perversion magic
there is cadmium plating
there is Zink gold plating like grade 8 bolts..
and there is regular Zink..
I thought about just painting them with por15
I don't know if any of these will hold up to the long term abuse or socket abuse..
that's actually a pretty good deal! if I were to spend all the time figuring out every bolt, washer, and nut then go by them from the hardware store it would still coast 2x more!
Thanks for the heads up! I didn't even know there were kits out there!
I like NO-OX-ID it's cheap and lasts a long time, goes a long way, designed for the purpose. Lots of different uses on truck and around the hacienda. I use their electrical contact stuff.

to keep the threads clean this would work great but im also worried about the head of the bolt and overall looks of it.. I would be afraid that me constantly washing my truck like I will would eventually blast that grease off the head and then I would have rust... what is your experience with it on the bolt head over time?
They make a few different types actually, I'd dig around the main page. Here's a link to .pdf on something maybe more suited.
I wire wheel the bolts, soak them in an acid/water solution, neutralize with water rinse then wire wheel them again, heat them slightly and soak them used motor oil for a few days.

how long does that last before the oil bleeds off them?
and would it hold up to being power washed?
Not sure. Had a daily driver winter truck with engine bolts done like that, no signs of rust after a harsh winter and spring. On my '77 which gets parked in the winter the head bolts have a touch of surface rust now, must have not soaked them long enough
