Windshield washer fluid is popular for water/meth injection. I think you're at the wrong site honestly for your problem. FTE is more about fixing stockish trucks and upgrading moderately. Once you hit the point you're at there's very few with knowledge.
I've used this before to describe heat soak:
Light a candle and wave your hand over the flame... Doesn't hurt at all right...
Same thing but slow your hand down or stop above the flame..... Ouch.
Usually bursts down the track are not going to hurt, I've heard of guys hitting 2200 on the track. That's completely different than hitting 2200 (using a random number) pulling a 10 mile long 7% grade. Something in scenario #2 will give and break long before scenario #1
When money permits I'd be doing a turbo swap, what turbo I'm not sure. When I had my 7.3 still I was going to go 250/200s and an H2E T4 setup. Then I realized I was still going to be disappointed after all the money spent with minimal gains
That's kinda were I'm at, it pisses me off my dad with a tuner has almost as much power with his 6.0 as I do with all the work I have done. And he doesn't have to worry about egt's. He tows on his highest tune I tow on my lowest. And we're around the same as far as power is concerned. Well I will try water injection, maybe add a little meth in and experiment and see what I can get.
Look into windshield washer fluid, that's what most run for water/meth.
Unfortunately the 7.3 when it comes to a lot of things is well ... A 7.3. Great engine for reliability but that's about it when you factor in cost to upgrade and horsepower per dollar it doesn't look that appealing.

Yeah I have read that, I think going to a forged rod motor, head studs, maybe a gurdle (sp?), water meth, and a t4 tubo setup would be as far as I bring this thing. Beyond that I plan on keeping it for the next 10 years toware the 6.7 come down in price and I can afford one. Motor has 50k so should be good for a while probable throw rods in it sooner than later.
What exactly are you going for? Hp wise. Have you priced out a girdle? I was thinking about building my Cummins but have decided against it recently. I made some recent changes to it and I'm over 600 hp now, another $10k and I'm at an easy 800 but I think 600 or so makes for a perfect balance. I don't have to keep an eye on egts when pulling or normal driving. Once I crank her up egts get a little warm. I opted for a small single turbo so it was streetable and could pull still and I knew egts when playing would be warm. It was a trade off. You did something similar but your turbo is just too small

500-550 it will be pushing the forged rods but would like a 400 horse towing tune. But I would do a common rail Cummins but the backs are so much smaller. My cousin has one and car seats barely fit. And the back seat is kinda uncomfortable. So that's why I did the 7.3. Edit: my dad's 6.0 has been kida a problem child, and a couple guys that have 6.4's are just like my dad's 6.0. I have really wanted a Cummins for the power gains what I did on my truck would easily get me 500+ HP at the cost of my injectors. But unless mega cabs come down in price that will not happen. I would do a long bed on it, splice fram yada yada.
Just doing some research on turbos and the S300sx-e seems like a decent sized turbo, just from what IV read it fairly new to market, and is bigger than the 366 with not as much lag as a 4 series turbo, and is capable of supporting 550hp and 250cc-200% nozzels which may be enough to keep me cooler?? Can't believe how much the t4 setups are 800 for up pipes and flange to mount turbo??? I will make my own for 200$ I have a couple 4" down pipes I can chop up to make a down pipe out of. So I guess it's just a matter of boost piping and a intake tube and filter intake tube and plumbing the oil feed and drain? I think 4-500$ would cover that.
