Egt

I have a F-250 PS with the DP tuner and really have to watch my EGT when pulling a hill. I pull a 3-horse aluminum trailer, load weighs probably 8000 lbs. In the 40 hp tow setting, I approach 1250 F alot when pulling up a grade. Recently, had the manifold checked for leaks and had one inlet leaking. Still seems act about the same. Does this seem normal? I have a Kwik filter. Does pulling hot air from the engine area make much difference?

Thanks, Chad

If you're not already, on those big hills, try getting your RPMs up some. Slightly "lugging" it with lowish RPMs will produce higher EGTs. If you downshift or keep OD locked out and get the RPMs up, boost will likely go up, and EGTs down.

Do you have stock eshaust yet? That will also keep you EGT's aliitle high. A straight pipe will lower it some.
