Just grabbed some new tailgate chains, but they aren't quite as expected. I thought these trucks had a sort of locking link to keep everything tight. This is what I have:
your missing the bottom outside "B" ring that is from hinge on the bedside to and that goes over the tailgate latch and then the hook goes in to hold it
That's what I mean by locking link. I have seen others where there is a slightly elongated link in the chain to do this. How would you even use that link shows? Its closed lol
I don't think a carabineer would be the right length. I would think finding that part. Or I would find someone that can form one for you. If you want some measurement I can get them for you
A lot of the replacements have a long plain loop (no crossbar) that comes split so you can put it thru the stationary bedside point, then squeeze it shut.
If you push the gate in further so that those two holes line up you can put the looped pin though both holes, that might make a tighter fit. It looks like your tail gate is out of position, sagging. Those holes should line up vertically.
