MSD Atomic EFI Installed
.Looks like we need something between the stock mustang seat and the Sport R seat. I like the idea of a headrest, but I think I would be in a to straight up and down position if I push the seat all the way back.
Luckily I need auto tilt column, but still hard to find it seems. The pick and pull here in Fremont has a 79, I may go and poke around and see what's out there.
Ultraranger recommended SN95 Mustang seats.. they have a headrest, about the same dimensions, and Late Model Restoration carries upholstery and foams: https://lmr.com/products/1994-2004-M...ats-Upholstery
Btw, UC is near the Newark and San Jo yards but everyone and their compadres go to those yards because they are local... and unfortunately local to a million south bay residents and the gearheads living there. I suggest going to the yards where there is less population density and therefore, less competition.
I think you should consider the yards in Moss Landing, Modesto, Richmond, Fairfield, or Stockton. I've been to the Stockton yard three times and the yard was chock full of old farm steel due to being in the central valley. The main Stockton store has like 40 SN95s at the moment but only one Bump and three Dents. The Fairfield yard is pretty good.. it's halfway between SF and Sacramento and relatively few from those locales will travel that far because there are other yards in their own metro area. But as of this moment, only one Bump and two Dents... haven't been to the Windsor yard yet.
Looks like Fairfield has a 78 dent and Fremont has a 79, then Stockton has a 78 and 79.
I'll take a look at the SN95's too. I have a console on the way I found on ebay, then had to find the stupid cup holders for it that seem to be like finding a unicorn.
Fox Mustang GT seats had adjustable thigh boltsers, a section across the front that sides in/out and they have power lumbar support. Earlier versions (around '82-'86) had 'halo' headrests --you can see through the headrests without obstructing your reward vision. The Fox seats are easily adaptable to the seat tracks in early Mustangs and should be easy to adapt to bucket seat tracks in a Bumpside as well.
The Ford EXP and Escort GTs also had similar seats with halo headrests and the same seat frames as the Fox Mustangs. They just don't have all the other bells and whistles. I had put a pair of '90 Escort GT halo seats in my '68 Mustang back in the mid-'90s but, I have a pair of '90 Mustang GT seats that I need to reupholster. They have a low-profile headrest. '87-'89 Mustang GTs will have a large headrest on them.

This is a comparison of a '67 Mustang seat ('67 Shelby/'67 Mustang w/deluxe interior upholstery) next to a '90-'93 5.0L Mustang GT seat with the low-profile headrest.

Mid-'80s Thunderbird Turbo Coupes (also built on a Fox chassis) also had very nice seats with the same features the 5.0L Mustang GT seats had. They also share the same seat frame layout. (Headrest is much the same as '87-'89 5.0L Mustang GT seats).

Seats from an '87/'88 Saleen Mustang.
Seats from an '89 Saleen Mustang.
'85/'86 Mustang GT seats with halo headrests.
Not certain if these are Fox Mustang seats in this Bumpside but the shape of them looks very close if they aren't.
Ford Trucks for Ford Truck Enthusiasts
Barn door aerodynamics is where these trucks hurt. The faster ya go the increased drag results in diminishing returns.... 55 mph to 60 mph tops at 2000 to 2200 rpm seems to be the sweet spot.
Would like an OD trans for sure, but they sure don't make it to easy for an FE. I think the GV shorty unit would fit in our trucks.
Right now, with 28" rear wheels and 3.25 gears, 65 mph is dead nuts at 2700 rpm.
Yeah, I haven't found a good solution for an OD auto trans to an FE. I forget who but some company out there offers a complete 4R70W system for like $5500. A GV seems the best value given their price point.
