Another option is to get these:

I promise you'll never slip again! On the downside you'll put holes in everything you step on

I do agree with the Rhino liner for what it's worth.

check out 3M anti slip tapes and sheets, all kinds of anti slip / grip tape products. Used on all kinds of commercial and specialty vehicles.

My 05 has Smittybilt nerf bars that are sagging rusting. and only a small rubber/plastic pad to step on. I picked up a set of running boards from a 2009 Super Duty. the ones with Ford in the middle. Just need to pick up bolts and clips and a little warmer weather to put them on.

What about amp research steps? They tuck under the truck. Maybe ice won't build up on them. Only issue I have seen is people in the northern states get ice buildup on the hinges and they are slow to deploy or lock up.

Very satisfied with mine. Plus they were basically free. Insurance company couldn't find replacement stock running boards so they allowed me to choose a set of aftermarket replacements.

Found mine for $900 shipped NOS 1st gen's on eBay
