Does anyone know of any improved pushrods for our engines?
Today, I decided to try to figure out the slight lope/clatter my engine was having at idle, and slight vibration higher up.
I figured it was one injector being off. I found which cylender(#8) was running differently than the rest(glow plug was several ohms less than the others while idling).
I pulled the injector, it was just fine. Swapped a couple, no differences.
I didn't have a perfect one to swap in, but I managed to find a mostly straight one that I straightened as best I could. Seems to have solved the problem, but I really should replace it with something /good/.
And if I need to buy a set of pushrods.... I want something stronger. I was able to (un)bend one of these /by hand/ with a vice(clamped one end and then just pushed). Seems a bit weak to me.
You might not need those aftermarket pushrods, and that site looks expensive. Sometime in the late 80's, I looked at a factory remanufactured gasser with only a few miles on it, but it was out of warranty. Long story short, there were two pushrods that had failed worse than yours. I purchased some replacements at the dealership and they were considerably heavier maybe almost twice the weight.
The parts technician said the pushrods I had were imported, probably made in Mexico, and the pushrods he was selling me came from the US. I put the new pushrods in and the owner never had any more problems with that engine.

they are a bit costly, but they provide an awesome product.
