Problem with high EGT's??

Ok, I noticed driving down the highway at 65mph my egt's were around 1100-1200 when they are usually around 5-600 degrees? I wasn't towing anything and there were no hills? When I got off the highway and sat at the red light for a few minutes the temp wouldn't go below 800 degrees? Even when i pulled into the garage and idled for a few minutes it wouldn't drop to its usual 3-400 degrees. It stayed right at 800? The engine seems to be running fine? I have no idea where to look first?? Any help will be appreciated!

Had this happen to mine occasionally while talking on the phone. Try shutting it down and re-starting. That would return mine to normal.

It sounds like it may be a guage problem.

X2. Try an infrared thermometer and compare the temps on the gauge to the thermometer.

Something caused it to lose calibration. Not sure if its a coincidence or not but were you talking on the phone prior to the problem? If you noticed, it was still working in that the temp difference was about the same at idle verses cruising. The gauge just lost its zero. Once you shut it off and re-start the gauge calibrates and goes back to normal.

That's happened to mine before, only thing I have ever been able to link to it was the cell phone. Nextel two way was worse. Nothing scientific just an educated guess.
