Front Axle ?

I am getting all the parts for my dually swap prepped and restored. I have the the 02 f350 front axle with the 3.73. The dually parts I got are off an 04 6.0 dually, with the 4.10 gears. I want to use the 04 axle for the swap because I can't afford the rear gear swap. Problem, the axles were from a wrecker so the front one has the knuckle were the steering joins on broken off. None repairable. So can I use the one off of my 02 to replace the whole unit. Since I am taking it off to do all the bearings seals and ball joints anyway. I was hoping they are the same. They appear identical. My manual doesn't list any difference.

When I have a parts compatibility question, I usually look up the two trucks on Rock Auto or Auto Nation Ford's website and see if the part numbers listed are the same.

Do you mean the cast steering arm on the knuckle is broken off? Just swap knuckles from your existing axle. The axles should be identical. Weather Dana 50 or 60, srw or drw, they use the same outers (knuckles, ball joints, hubs, etc)

That's what I'm asking. THe knuckle is snapped right off at the ball for the steering so its toast, and yes I want to just use mine when I pull it off to do the ball joints anyway. I just can't find if they are the same. As said, other than the pumpkin, and spacers for dually rims, they appear identical. I did look up parts stores, but no one has the castings, only the parts that attach to them. The ball joints are the same though, so I assume they are identical.

I will thanks. Another Idea I have, not sure if its possible. One reason I want dually is I am a hp junky and my friends and I do a lot of racing our trucks. Mines real fast with the 3.73, but horrible traction. So dually will be a big improvement, except the 4.10 gears. I'll change that when I can afford the gear swap. But I was wanting to see if I can have two rims made that are off set the same as the dually double rims, and put a street slick on there. So the width and axle from the dually with slicks!!!!!!!! I figure I can get some real traction with that. Just a thought. Think that's possible?

super singles. replace two wheels and rims with one.
BUT larger tires will mean more traction which will mean easier to break more parts.

Yeah, broken rear gears are in the future there. Should be cool to look at though.
