Help Me Chase Down Some Idiot Lights
Just bought a 2001 F-250 XL with 7.3 and 4WD and manual 6-speed with 265k, and I'm trying to go through a punchout list.
It seems like I've got some strange electrical issues, and hoped someone might have a clue.
1. First, the ABS light stays on on the dashboard.
I checked fuses ## 15 and #24 and they both show continuity on VOM.
I replaced the rear speed sensor in the differential. That didn't make the light go out.
Next: Check and possibly replace speed sensors in front axle.
2. After I replaced the speed sensor in the rear, the "DOOR AJAR" light came on and stays on. Any chance these two issues are connected?
3. The seller who sold me the truck said the overhead interior cab light comes on randomly for no apparent reason, so he took the bulb out. Any chance all three of these issues are connected?
The truck came from the Pocono mountains area of PA where they use a LOT of salt on the roads (and much of the underbody is rusted to crumbling, but that's another story for another day) ... I'm wondering whether salt, which attracts water and then conducts electricity, might have gotten into the wiring harness somewhere and be causing all these weird problems...
Does anyone have any thoughts on any and all of this? I hate electrical problems!
Thanks in advance for any ideas.
