96 m5r2 rwd swap into 88 m5r2 4x4?

I have an 88 f150 4x4 that had a m5r2 five speed in it, I removed and sold the tranny transfer case and driveshafts. Now I got a 96 f150 with an m5r2 and rwd. I need to know if the tranny and driveshaft will install in the 88 so I can drive the 88. The 96 has a messed up frame.

I hope they are the same wheel base, so you can use the drive shaft.

You can't put a 2WD trans in front of a transfer case, but he's basically converting the truck to 2WD if I understand correctly.

The only thing I'd be concerned about is the transmission crossmember, and even if that's an issue it doesn't seem like it would be insurmountable.

That's what I'm doing until I can find another cheap 4x4 donor truck.

Isn't the vehicle speed sensor on the transmission or transfer case on the 87-91? The 96 would use the vss on the rear axle, correct?
