front dana 60 cover

was looking into putting a chrome cover on the 97 f350 will a rear dana 60 cover work on the front or are the diffrent

it depends on the depth of the cover. They re the same bolt pattern but if the cover is too deep, it will hit the steering linkage. but with just a cheap chrome cover you should be fine. I suggest looking at Kentrol for a stainless cover

i would not bother, them chrome covers ALWAYS leak. the only way i have ever gotten them to seal halfway decent it to take a grinder to the gasket surface and grind all the chrome off to bare steel.
and then i had to goop the crap out of the gaskets with silicone to make them seal.
now granted this was mostly done on oil pans to stop the leak. i only had one truck with a chrome diff cover come in the shop and it was also leaking.

taking tjc's dislike a step further, they don't stay chrome for long...unless you live in arizona

My Bronco came to me with a chrome diff cover on the front Dana 44. Personally I'd never choose to put one on, but I haven't had any leaks and it isn't very rusty, so it's not giving me any reason to replace it either.

yea Bob, but New Mexico is pretty dang close to Arizona!!!

MN, not NM. But my Bronco's almost never been driven in Minnesota winters, so I can't say it's had a true test.

I'm actually east of the Mississippi! (by about 5 miles)
