Crap..drivers side just went out on my 79 there original and want to order a set not sure if spacers or other kits are required besides what's included in a hub set. I have deep snow here in the Cascade mountains so I'll bet that's a culprit for the drivers hub giving out with all the snow this year..any favorites?
It may matter which front axle. D44 or D60. In general, at least with a D44, they should bolt up as supplied after you get the original removed.
The lower cost "mile marker" hubs from the AP store are OK but not near as strong as originals. Warn is supposed to be better. Originals are supposed to be the strongest short of a real high end severe duty replacement.
PS: if you could post a pic of your setup that would help
Thanks fellas I put my laptop to work before I ask here as a rule of thumb and just needed some feedback on the extra spacer kit sounds like none is needed just the hub kit and I'll go with WARN on the replacement..Dang I wish I could upload pic's here my camera always says to large of a file but I'll take some pic's of my process and hope for the best...thanks again that helped in my choice
My last 3 trucks have had Warn Premium hubs, Never had a failure, and I've wheeled them pretty hard. They are sorta pricey compared to others, but have a lifetime warranty.
I've also had 2 trucks with the Warn standard hubs, never had a problem with those either. But they have plastic dials that only take 1/4 turn to engage, the premiums have a metal dial and take almost a full turn to engage.
