I have a 68 F250 with dual fuel tanks. When I fill up the main tank the fuel gage registers 3/4 full. It runs out of fuel when the gage is at 1/4 tank.
When I switch to the auxiliary tank, the fuel gage registers empty and that is with a full tank.
The tank behind the seat is an easy fix. Remove sender and bend the arm down a touch. That will make it read FULL when full and Empty when empty. Might have to adjust it a few times. Do it when the tank is full that way you can instantly check.
The aux tank? Either the float is sunk or the sender is bad/wire broken. Go back to the sender and ground it. If the gauge pegs full it is the sending unit. If nothing happens then the wire is broken somewhere. Try testing the switch.
