Fuel tank help

Fuel tank help
ok I have a
1979 Ford F150
300-6 4x4
4 speed
I just put a brand new 19 gal fuel tank in
i used the old sending unit in seen it was still good
I then put between 4 to 5 gal of fuel in the new tank and the darn fuel
gauge reads that theres almost a half of a tank
ok I may be a little slow minded but at 5 gals of fuel in a 19 gal tank isnt close to half full lol
I am sure this has been asked a 1000000 times but any help on how to fix it would be great thanks
