Cooling Fan Problem

I currently have a 2003 F-250 6.0 with 112,000 miles on it. While traveling interstate speeds (70+) and the I can hear the cooling fan rev up and down every 110-15 seconds. Is this normal?

Also when it spins up, it sounds normal then make a high pitched squealing noise. Thoughts?

I am also needing to rebuild the fuel bowl. I noticed DieselOrings offers rebuilds for the 7.3 but not the 6.0. Will these fit or any suggestions on parts?

Blue spring kit should come with all the o-rings you need on the secondary filter housing; you need the spring if you don't already have it:

Fan clutch sounds like its locking up incorrectly. Do you have an EGR delete? Any any gauges to watch the duty cycle on the fan clutch and fan speed?

What are your EOT and ECT temps?

The fan clutch was my guess, but I'm no mechanic. The truck has not had an EGR delete and I have only had to replace the water pump on the truck. I do not have any gauges to check the fan, but I can get the download for Torque Pro on my tablet and check it there.

I noticed a slight diesel smell under the hood and found a small amount on the top of the engine, so it appears I need to rebuild the fuel bowl.

You could also be running hot due to plugged radiator, failing water pump, etc. Fan hits full speed when the ECT is around 218.

Gauges will tell you!
