Hey guys I've been a lurker for some time but my 7.3 IDI it's finally pushing me to the point I need to post. I know that there are other threads about wait to start lights however they have been unsuccessful in helping me with my problem about a week ago I changed the thermostat and all of a sudden the wait to start light didn't come on the next morning after a bunch of checking I found the number 11 K fuse blowin I replaced it turn the key and it blew again so then I started a process of elimination finally determining it was the glow plug relay I replace the glow plug relay and everything was working good less than a month ago I replaced all glow plugs with Motorcraft glow plugs so I thought I was back in business today I went out to change an injector, because it seems I have a bad injector, and once again I have no wait to start light. I was able to start it and move it into the garage to work on it by using a short blast of starter fluid, I know starting fluid is really bad. Anyway the fuse is not blowing anymore I have disconnected the fuel heater wire as I read that that is a common problem but I still have no wait to start light with glow plugs that are less than a month old and all testing good I can't imagine that's the problem could it be the bad injector? Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks guys
welcome to FTE.
these really are simple systems as long as you do not try to over think the repair.
did you read the new style glow plug thread in the top of this section?
that has pretty much everything you need to get the plow plug circuit working properly.
