I have a 1992 f250 with a 7.3, when I start it up it cranks an awful long time
but it does start. My question is: Probably 8-10 sec. after the wait to start
lite shuts off I here a series of ticks and the day time running lites blink.
What does this mean? Should I wait for this click to start or try after the
lite goes off?
The clicking you hear is normal, its the glo plug relay finishing the heat cycle. As a rule when the wait to start light goes off the engine is ready to start.A lot of cranking could be some bad glo plugs, batts not up to par,or air in the fuel system.
I have the same truck & mine starts easier if I wait til the glow plugs click off as well. It was really hard to start before I changes the glow plugs. I am on my third set now at 190,000 miles & it seems that the aftermarket ones I bought doesn't last as long.
Srearfisher,I would recomend only Motorcraft which are Beru glo plugs, they are a better quality than anyothers ive seen or used. They last longer and hold together better(broken tips can cause expensive headaches).
I have a set of GP. Their International Part # 1804211C2, on the tag is says made in Germany. How do I determine if these are good, bad or indifferent? Thanks.
