Unhappy sync 3 text mess problem

Hey all,
Just got my new 2016 f150 supercrew with the new sync 3. I had an '05 before this , so I'm not too familiar with the new tech. So I can get the phone part of the bluetooth to work but the sync system wont notify me when a new text msg comes in. I tried the fix on the ford owners website.... open the door shut the vehicle off start it back up, make sure the notifications in the bluetooth tab are on etc, etc, etc. Still to no avail. Ive searched exhaustively for an answer. Any ideas??

I have an iphone 6s.....

thanks for any input

Yep make sure the notifications is set to ON in the Bluetooth tab, in Sync select Phone then Text Message and it will re-acquire the iPhone info and it should work after that.

It took a few tries for mine to synch with Sync 3, iPhone 5.

Jan 27 2016 2576 - 2011-2016 Multiple Vehicles - SYNC GEN 2 MyFord/MyLincoln Touch v 3.8 And SYNC 3 - Siri Eyes Free Functional Issues Using Bluetooth And Apple iOS 9.2 And 9.2.1

Some 2011 thru 2016 Ford or Lincoln vehicles equipped with MyFord/MyLincoln touch and version 3.8 software or SYNC 3 may exhibit Siri Eyes Free not working over Bluetooth properly with iPhones using iOS 9.2 and 9.2.1 software. Ford is currently working with Apple on a resolution. As a workaround, plugging the iPhone into a USB port allows Siri Eyes Free to operate properly. Recommend that the customer have their iPhone plugged into a USB port to operate Siri. Plugging the iPhone in a USB port may cause Autoplay to start playing USB media. Autoplay can be disabled or enabled using the process in the Owner’s Manual or SYNC Supplemental Guide.

Try the suggested workaround by plugging the phone into the USB to see if it works. If so, that's your problem. Ford will have to work out a solution.

It's a phone issue 99% of the time, and 99% of the time I have a customer with a phone issue, it's with an Apple. There are some security settings in the apple (somewhere) that prevent the truck from getting permission to talk to the phone about those things. IMO you're best bet is to go to Apple and ask them based on your specific phone and version and let them know what items you're trying to allow for the bluetooth device, and they'll know right where the security permission setting are. You can probably google your way to the answer too, just look along the lines of bluetooth permission settings for apple.

Hi EFD162,

Did you check the settings on your iPhone?

Go to SETTINGS, BLUETOOTH, select the blue "i" next to SYNC, and make sure SHOW NOTIFICATIONS is turned on.

Ok, thanks for the input. The phone settings is allowing notifications . So is "i" in the sync Bluetooth menu. I will now try to plug in via usb. Hopefully that will solve it. If not, next step is the Apple Store or wait for a sync update fix .

Thanks all
Tony

Ok everyone,
There has to be something Im missing. I have all the phone settings correct from previous posters. I have deleted the phone from the SYNC system and re-synced. Still nothing. Phone calls work , my contacts are there but not the text message. I can press the button on the steering wheel and text that way, but I'm still not receiving notifications of incoming text messages.

Are you pressing the text message icon on the Sync screen after doing all that?

Yes sir I did. Absolutely seems like nothing is going to work. I hate to wipe my phone and start over like the fix on the sync website says.

Cool 2016 SYNC 3 text message prblems also

I'm using a Samsung Note 3 (obviously Android OS), and my new 2016 F150 Super Crew links up to it just fine. My contacts list works ok.
HOWEVER... The darn SYNC system "sees" the EMAIL on my phone as text messages and the blasted thing notifies me through the SYNC 3 as a "new message". It doesn't seem to even recognize SMS text messages at all...When I use voice command or the touch screen icons to hear the "text message", (which is in reality an EMAIL), the voice starts reading off jumbled nonsense: "34 EQUALS 76 EQUALS 32 EQUALS 49 EQUALS...." This just goes on endlessly until I command "Cancel". Tried un-pairing and re-pairing my phone numerous times...same result ever time.

Bummer dude. I only have regular SYNC, but texting works fine with my Android phone (I have a droid RAZR MAXX HD). That said, I also don't do email on my phone because it's too painful.

Sync will read text messages really funny sometimes too.
