Replacement oil coolers

I am doing the usual upgrades on a 2005 F250. What started as a small leak at the rubber coupling between egr tube and oil cooler turned into doing everything else while motor is down this far.

I am curious what the difference in the upgraded oil cooler is? Well besides not prone to failing as early.

There are thousands of aftermarket ones sold. Some of the cheap ones are around $50. Tho I dont want to take a risk on third world junk, is there any good aftermarket ones available that are more affordable than oem Ford?

Stick with the Ford or IH units.
You can get a good price on a real Ford from Ed at FICMRepair.com - FORD Powerstroke 6.0 FICM Repair, PHP Tuning and Truck Parts

I just went through this same sorta search few weeks ago. Went something like this;
Me: Can anyone tell which is the bestest/cheapest oil cooler to get?
Them: Stick with the Ford OEM
Me: What about this high flow aftermarket from blah blah.
Them: Just get the OEM
Me: what about this bullet proof one from blah blah.
Them: oh sure thats a great one to get.
Me: Really?
Them: OMG, what are you not getting?!?!?! OEM.

Thats about the gist of it.

They got it right...OEM or Bullet Proof Diesel...

The BPD units are expensive but they are worth it if you do any pulling with your truck. If you live anywhere north of Georgia, you'll need to get the cold weather package or your oil will never get above 180 degrees.

I've got OEM oil cooler and BPD EGR cooler. Towing 14K 5th wheel highest ECT was 212 and highest EOT was 223. That was pulling a long grade and keeping RPMs under 2800.
