Help Needed

2006 6.0 recently purchased, realized oil was be pushed back to the Degas bottle. I live in Spring Hill FL. 45 min N or Tampa. I would like to put ARP head studs in it, OEM Ford Head gaskets EGR cooler and OEM Ford Oil cooler. While I am in there I would also like to re-O-ring all the injectors and do all the new Ford Updates and clean the turbo.

What I am really wanting is someone that has done this several times before I am mechanically inclined but would like a pro to do it. I am willing to pay fairly and buy all parts. If there is anyone that lives within the area let me know.
Truck is down on power and want it up and running like it should.
I realize I may have to change the hpop and other things but would like to get it running like it should. Previous owner told me that it was a great running truck with no issues. I wish I would not have listened to him

Need done asap if you know anyone that can help me please let me know.
Thanks!

Skip the OEM EGR cooler and go with one from Bulletproof Diesel.
They have done the research and are not California CARB approved.
That way no one will have a hissy-fit over a non-OEM part.

On the where to take it someone that knows that area should be able to
give you some ideas or you can check with the local FTE chapter for your
location.

Also the work is not that hard it's just things are heavy and the space
can be a little tight to fit into.

If you do have someone else do the work you might want to do the
cooling system flush yourself because a lot of shops just don't take the
time to a heavy clean out. You want to do any flush before you do the oil
cooler so that the old oil cooler will catch all the crap that the flushing
knocked loose. Once the flush is done a few days to a week of driving should
get almost all the debris out of the cooling system.

I got the dead computer back to life last night and can
now post the PDFs on how to do this job yourself. It's
work but nothing more than doing the same type of work
on any engine. The difference is it is just heavier.

Thank you Yahico I have spent many hours trying to put together a parts list of not only things to buy for this repair but at reasonable prices and have found some really good deals for example oem ford oil cooler at $175.00 not bad considering Ford wants almost $500.00 for the same part number so I took it into the Ford dealer and had pictures of parts with oem Ford part numbers and was hoping to supply them with the parts and pay for there labor cost but they said no that they could only give a 30 day labor only warranty but they would do there best to get close cost wise to my parts list so we will see I could use alittle good luck on this deal but have decided that if they cant be some what fair on price I will do all the work myself one set back to having Ford do the work is they will not install a EGR DELETE so if they are somewhat reasonable I will go with the BPD oil cooler so tell me this those that know lol. I build racing engines for motorcycles but have never been inside the 6.oh but am very mechanically inclined so am I in over my head ! I can say that I have prolly more knowledge from reading for the past couple of years and watching diesel tech Rons videos on youtube than most j/kidding but if I do jump in feet first I will try to take good pictures and keep track of the time it takes me to do this project from start to finish I have my fingers crossed that our local dealership comes through for those who have been through this before should I delete or keep the EGR cooler also here is my plan oem oil cooler BPD EGR cooler ARP studs oem Ford head gaskets re place all o-rings on injectors stage 1 industrial injection turbo with regulated fuel system and Fass air dog 2 not sure if I will get new injectors but thinking 155 or 175 advice needed thanks to all that may have some good advice to help me get this truck running good

As far as the work goes the parts are heavier and you might need more
torque in some places. Funny thing is that other than a few items you never
get over 50Ft/Lb.

Good place to get a fair price on Ford parts would be from
FICMRepair.com - FORD Powerstroke 6.0 FICM Repair, PHP Tuning and Truck Parts

The reason a lot of shops won't give a good deal on bring your own parts.
Really 2 reasons. They can't control where they come from and they don't
make any money on the parts that way.

One easy way to deal with the EGR cooler is a BPD EGR cooler and just
turn the valve off with a tune. You will have to tune it to make the light
go away. That is how I am doing it.

As for how to videos you also want to look at ones by SrMasterTech also.
He is very good. Sadly he passed away this last year also.

Slowe, welcome to FTE lots of good info and great people here.
like Sean said do the cooling system flush first then add a coolant filter.
I have added a pdf file on flushing the system with the chemical flush, if you follow it closely it will save you money in the long run. I used this method when I flushed my system and it actually lowered my EOT numbers enough to postpone doing the wrench work, it has been good for over a year now.
Best of luck
Ed

Slowe, I found that watching youtube videos on coolant flushes can be confusing but helpful in the long run. Here is a part 2 video by srmastertech, I found the part starting at 4 minutes 9 seconds to be very helpful in flushing the Restore and Restore Plus from the system, really speeds things up. It took me 2 days to complete mine. In the write up he recommends using hot water when flushing, for me living in Arizona in the summertime I just connected 200 feet of water hose on the driveway, yes I had plenty of hot water.

Also I have included a pdf of my spreadsheet that I started just before and several weeks after the flush and coolant filter addition. I chose Chevron Delo ELC coolant to replace the ford gold as the Chevron Delo is a 750,000.00 mile coolant and can be ordered on Amazon, there are many others out there.
Good luck
Ed

Now you did it.
All the tree huggers will be jumping for joy that You found solar.
Only to realize that you drive a diesel. Then they will go cry over a
plant to save water. ONLY thing about no one told them tears are salty.

Mind you these are the same ones that bitch about an oil platform in a
petroleum product kayak also known as plastic.

Also can't forget the ones that won't eat meat because it's cruel to animals.
Only to find out that the leather jacket, shoes and belt are made from the same
cows that they won't eat for dinner. And still won't give them up.

Now was that a total left turn on the topic not?
