My low-budget $905 audio system..

Sony MEX GS810BH, $240
sirius/xm, hd radio, near field control

Soundstream T5.2500DL, $240
What can i say, it's a Soundstream, nuff said..
Polk Audio DBi1201, $100
The subwoofer is the best I've ever had, hits the low notes and sounds great doing it..

NVX XSPTW, $120, mounted inside 2.5" PVC End cap with hole drilled in back for speaker wires and painted black.
SB Acoustics Driver in NVX chassis, very loud and clear.

Not pictured, Image Dynamics X57 Component woofers in the doors $205
things that go BOOM in your doors.
Image Dynamics X57 5" x 7" XS Mid-Bass Speaker Drivers

Don't look like much but it sounds great, full active with no passive crossovers and yes, the floor is getting replaced after the paint job..
I'm not buying anything this year unless it's for the van..
There's so much BASS up front it's pure ecstasy, all the speakers are within a 2.5 ft radius of my head and it's a beautiful thing..
All the bass is up front and pounds my chest, i love it when a plan comes together..

Pity you can't demo remotely but that's a low budget system? We're on different scales - $905 is more than half what we paid for our van with working OE stereo. Yes, it has all the fidelity of a gramophone

That's my 2nd head unit, 3rd amplifier, 4th subwoofer, 3rd pair of door speakers and 3rd set of tweeters, i have well over $2,000 invested but wasn't happy with the sound until now, this system is built for SQ and it takes a lot of learning and experimentation to get to that level, once you hear the music the money you spent to get to that level of sound quality seems rather insignificant but I'm happy with the system and don't need to change a thing, that in itself is a miracle because i'm a very discerning listener, suddenly you look forward to traffic jams just so you can kick back crank it up and watch the cagers jockey for the pole position while jamming to some smooth jazz

Go to a local car audio store and ask for a demo of one of their SQ vehicles but be warned, after you hear it you will no longer enjoy listening to your current stereo..

Lightbulb what?

Google "tinnitus".

It's real and it will happen. Might take 30 years, but trust me, its no fun when it finally does.

It sure will. I was a roadie for a couple of regional rock bands in the 70's not to mention my own 50w Marshall & Strat. Ears now start to ring around suppertime and go to bed with me.

Nice, I got about that, 2 Rockford Fosgate HE2 12's on a Rockford Fosgate 800x2 that I got free, put $15 in it to fix it, Jensen 400x4, with a Pioneer rear USB tuner, I bought most of my stuff discounted, the full price would be over a grand. I need to get at my charging system, it is not rated for the amps I need, yet has somehow kept up, don't overlook that man, find an alternator shop and get one built, my other van has an over built unit that likely puts out 200+ amps. When your door speakers give out, go round, forget using the odd shape factory ones, I've gone through quite a few.

You're off to a good start and i love Rockford Fosgate, used to have a pair of 12's in a 3.2 cu ft vented enclosure but i pulled it out because it took up too much room and replaced with the Polk Audio DXi1201, lot's of storage space now and room for my camping and fishing gear..
I have conversion van so it already has 140 amp alternator and the most my system would draw is about 55 amps at 90% volume..
Don't buy in to that myth about Ovals, all you need to remember is that "Cone Area Is King" and the bigger the cone the better it is at reproducing low frequencies, I've used round speakers in the doors and the biggest speaker that will fit is a 5.25" unless you start cutting on the door, the 5x7 oval is equivalent to a 6" round and will easily outperform the smaller 5.25"..
I was going to run coaxial speakers it would be the RF Punch 5x7, they are quite the bargain for $65/pr and they have 23 5 star reviews so yes, they are Klippel Verified and kick *** !!

Rockford Fosgate Punch P1572 5"x7" 2-way car speakers at Crutchfield.com ..

Put those in the doors and hook em up to the front channel of your Jensen, you'll be rocking

Ovals are poor quality today, I am looking for a better sound, many just produce lows, I got that already, I put my subs under my bed, it was in the rear of my other van, behind the sofa/bed facing the rear doors, had a shelf on it, you could put a cushion on it to extend out the bed. I have 6 1/4" Jensen components in the cabinet behind my drivers seat, and Jensen 6 1/4" in the knee wall in front of the bed, there is more than enough power for more speakers, it doesn't really need them, but I do want some in the overhead up front when I finish it. I prefer old school RF equipment, they rate lower than their actual output, the 800x2 actually puts out 1000 watts bridged, I sold a punch 15" that was sold in 1992 for $400, box requirement was too much for my current van.
This system was in my 99 for 12 years, was enough to knock the bolts out of the rear windows, rather expensive "dealer" items 2 12's and 15" were more than enough in the 15 passenger, hated to see the 15 go but leave one lying around and it will get damaged. I'm rolling in a 73 E100 now, you don't put speakers in the doors on those, they don't have the window seals that prevent water, and I'll not cut them.

I don't know who told you that but they gave you some bad information and the one's that produce lows (like mine) are supposed to produce lows and that's the reason they're component 'woofers'..

You have so many speakers in there i wouldn't even know where to start..
I have 2 tweeters, 2 woofers and 1 subwoofer

Nah, just 4 aside from the 12's, I have gone through several 6x8's, name brand stuff, not cheap, the factory paper held up longer with power beyond their design. I'm all about overkill, gotta get my layout finished, the 6x9's are blown, so I didn't cut out for them, weighing options, more lows I don't need, it already shakes the van as it is. I would like a rear battery, it gives the lift a boost, necessary in my white van, screw lift, the hydro isn't as power hungry but extra for the stereo equipment is nice, hope you ran wire and secured it before the bed, enough for stereo, expansion, and lights.
