Hi guys.
I posted this in the stereo section. This thread is more active. So-
I am looking for some recommendations. It's stock now with the exception of two 8" subs powered by a 400 watt amp, under the back seat. I have a dial to adjust the base level. I'm happy with it the way the sub is.
I am looking at getting four 6x8 3 way speakers for the doors and back panels.
I would like to get a high power(?) head unit that plays all format cd's, is blue tooth capable, has a front aux input for my mp3 and portable xm receiver. I'd like to keep it all under 4 or 5 hundred dollars.
So-
1)what are some good head units? and
2)good speakers
Oh-and what is all the HD hype?
Thank you in advance! Ron
for $630 you can get a new Pioneer Avic D3 delivered to your door. It plays DVDs, CDs, hooks up with the ipod and control everything form the unit, double din, touch screen, Navigation, bluethooth capable, and can hook up Sirius and/or XM. If you want way more info on any AVIC unit go to www.avic411.com
Damn, Pioneer should pay me for advertising their product, lol. I Just like the D3 a lot. Here is what it looks like with the ipod hooked up:
and Navigation:
I have a JVC G820, which was replaced with the 830. They are pretty nice, have alot of info on the display, you can plug a 2 GB usb drive into it with mp3s on it, and I use mine for sirius. Its probably got the most info on the display when using built in sirius in a single DIN space. Weve tried a high end sony, and one other, and were not satisfied. Its around 200. If you dont have anyone sitting in the back, dont replace the rear speakers, just disconect them. I spent the money on the rears, and cant hear, them, so now I have nice speakers in the back, that are disconnected, because they didnt do anything anyways. Find a good component set, that has tweeters to put on the dash, and "woofers" to put in the door (they arent really woofers, they just dont have tweeters, so they call them that) For best results IMO. ITs hard to hear the highs when they are in the door. Ask me how I know, and why there are now tweeters on my a pillars.
I have always ran Alpine with excellent results. I can post the model number later. I also run Alpine door speakers (4) and an Infinity 10" Bass Link subwoofer.
eclipse speakers are by far the best 5x7s for your doors... i love alpine stuff and always run their head units but for speakers there realy isnt much better for the price
I am running a Kenwood HU that is HDradio, sirius, and ipod capable, it is a single din, with a low res screen, but it does all I ask it too. (installed in 05 so its old technology) I have Blaupunkt 5x7's with the dual cones, and two Pioneer 10's behind the back seat, with a small 200 watt amp powering them. I have enough power to get clear quality sound out of all my speakers, but not enough power to rattle store windows at a city block.
