For headgaskets.cooling system is pressurizing and I'm loosing heat at idle.system recently flushed new thermostat, heater core and waterpump.it sucks that it just had to happen this time of the year.so it's either fix it,or send it on its way.my mechanic who does several of these a year said to pull the cab and install studs and gaskets would be around 2600 and if I needed the heads done that was up to me.
Part of me wants too but part of me says get rid of this thing before anything else happens.its still a very nice truck that just turned over 140000 miles and I know it's gonna start giving me problems b fore long.so I may just sleep on it
Yes that is a very good price, and he's very good.last year he done what seemed like one 6.0 a week and only had to have one set of heads milled.he said he's done about 50 trucks and only had one come back due to a crack in the head he didn't catch,he very meticulous about his work.

Go for it...for that price you can't go wrong. If you do end up selling, you'll have the added benefit of being able to advertise that the HG and studs are already done.
He told me I could probably get the gaskets cheaper off the internet, cause he buys directly from our local dealership and there about 280 a side.i was looking at prices for parts and was on fordparts.com and typed my vin number in and it said I had the 20mm dowels I wonder how accurate they are.
FelPro and ARP studs, machine them flat, oil cooler, stand pipes, dummie plugs and your good to go
Did you use the FelPro? They had just come out when I did mine, so I didn't risk them. Curious how they are performing.
I'd add that you probably want to check the flatness before machining them...they don't have too much extra machine stock. Mine were within .002 using the Ford measurement process.
