transmission help
Hey guys, I got a 1981 Ford f150 with a 460. I'm in the market for a new transmission ( I got tired of my 4spd). Anyways I'm going to install some 3.55 rear gears and was wondering if you have any recommendations as to which 5 speed transmission to get? ( I want to use it for some racing of course and I want some quick acceleration). The truck is a 4x4 and I have a married transfer case. Thanks for your time guys. ( I'm still a newbie at this lol)

Hmm I don't know too much about the options but I think the easiest would be to get a gas ZF-5. I've heard great things about the ZF-5 transmissions so I think it should do well behind the 460. I don't know how "sporty" it is, but I don't think there are too many options.
I currently have the M5OD, but it's behind a 302. I don't believe it would bolt up to the 460, and if it did, may not last very long if you plan on spirited driving.
If you do decide to go for a ZF transmission, I believe the ones that came on diesels have a different mating pattern, so you have to be careful about that.
