Well I was at a local pick n pull and came home with an instrument panel that had the tach as part of the gauge setup, however now that leads to questions ...
Is it simply plug and play or is there any wiring that needs to be done to get the tach to work ? I believe out of a 92, so same year as mine. This was an auto, my gauge set for the stick has this section blacked out, and the clear bezel will have to come off to see if the old one is some kind of insert - anyone aware of this ? Odometer - is there any way to advance or go backwards to match my unit, or is there some type of internal memory card that can be swapped from old one ?
If your swapping a 92 tach cluster into a 92 non tach cluster, it will be a plug and play setup.
Now if you have diffrent years clusters then you will have to repin the harness to make it work properly..
92 to 93 plug and play
94 to 95 plug and play
96 to 97(hd trucks) plug and play
As for the mileage, just swap your original speedo into the tach cluster and also the gear shift indicator is bolted onto the speedo, so swap your speedo over and both will issues will be resolved.

It will be plug and play.

Use the center speedometer/odometer/PSOM out of your old cluster.
Guys, posting an update. Finally after looking at the part sitting and staring at me for some time - actually did this yesterday. Went pretty easy after I realized I had to use only my speedo assy in the new part assembly - should have reread the thread first. Anyways one thing I learned in the process - dust get's into the actual assembly over time - on the actual face of the gauges behind the plastic, now new gauges and very clear faces to look at. If anyone is building a show vehicle or good detailers may be aware of this, now I am ..... one little glitch - the face of one of the dials had to be glued to the backing as it kept the dial from working properly which caused another R & R, otherwise it went pretty smooth ....
