500 posts already? Where has the time gone? A little over three years ago I was looking for a truck. Less than three years later, the final payment has been scheduled for the truck. Hopefully, in a few short weeks, I will have a piece of paper saying the truck is mine. Originally, I was hoping for a 2 year pay off from the original loan date but some unexpected expenses came up. However, I got the truck paid off by 100K miles with 4K to spare. It's all good.
Congrats on your paid off truck, it will feel really nice not making a payment. Mine has been paid off for a year in a half now. Love not paying the bank..
Thanks Guys.
Bentley, I bought the truck with 58K on the clock. I got the truck paid off within 38K of mileage. Not bad considering the truck was not suppose to be a daily driver. It was slated to be a tow vehicle and as needed weekend project truck. However, in the short 2.75 years of ownership, there has been 2 trips to Florida for Disney. One trip to Myrtle Beach, SC. Numerous shorter weekend camping trips to PA and NJ.
Hauling wise. The heaviest load as around 3400 pounds of sand for a new pool base. 2800 pounds of river stone for a landscaping projects. A loads of crushed 3/4 for fixing the parking area/ driveway. A numerous loads of mulch for landscaping. Scrap metal runs making gas money for the truck. So far so good. I really like the truck. When my wife and I decide to move, this truck will help our relocation efforts. It has done everything I have ask from it. Repairs has been minimal 2 warranties on the power steering and a wheel hub. Just regular and mileage based maintenance. Looking forward to the miles down the road.
38k in three years is understandable, I should have remembered you bought it second hand, I remember your thread on here. Sounds like it has worked out well for you and the family.
The bank is now reporting $00.00 balance on the loan. I wonder if I can still keep paying on this? LOL This morning when I woke up I checked the balances. The auto loan has disappeared. That means in about 4 weeks there will be a special letter in the mail for me.
Here is the real question... What's next?
New rubber? (Tires are getting low on tread. I pretty sure with the mild NJ winter this year, I should be good until spring.)
Gear swap? (Ford charge needs to be paid down.)
5 star Tune? (I might wait until the extended warranty is up.)
.....or..... wait for it....
pay off the the trailer faster? What? Responsibility?
Today was a joyous occasion. The mail carrier brought the most glorious letter. The letter that held the title to the truck! It is officially mine and the well the wife's. Her name is on the title as well. To think on Saturday, the truck got the big time treatment at the car wash as it's happy pay off present. Camping season cannot come fast enough.
Congrats on getting it paid off. You should tell the wife you still owe another year or two on it and use the "payment" money on mods
Oh she knows the truck is paid off. The next vehicle payment will be for her next vehicle. Right now I want another Ford in the driveway. Probably a Fusion or something mid size. Possibly a GM product. (ugh. not my choice but hers) I would expect maybe a used MKZ though. My wife and I both liked the rental model we had when looking for the truck 3 years ago. Who knows...
The magical piece of paper came in the mail the other day. She is officially all mine. I had to feel the paper of the title. It is really nice to have it as well.
The next vehicle will be a couple of months. I'm thinking about paying as much cash as possible to keep the payments to a minimum.
I've got a little while to go on mine but I can't wait to not pay anymore. Would've been sooner but other things come up. At least my loan is around 1%, so the interest is negligible.
When I was younger I thought payments were the best thing in the world. I could get what I want without needing to shell out a ton of bucks. Now I can't stand having them.....
