Hey everyone. The site is great and the information is overwhelming. Can't wait to start on the truck. The plan will be to keep it stock. The truck only has 4690 original miles. Everything does seem original so I don't think I really feel good about changing much. Your thoughts? I do know the original and only owners.

Just was playing with the numbers and at 53 years old and only 4690 miles that works out to about 88 miles a year. I think I make more miles on my Rollerblades than that. Wow!

Pretty amazing when you consider the national average is 15,000 a year, or more than 3 times per year what this truck had put on it in 53 years. That must be one amazingly clean slick. Probably original grease in the u-joints and everything. Must be sweet. Original upholstery and all, I bet. Wow!

Of course, as people are quick to point out, the odometers go to 99,999 and then roll back around to 00,000, but doesn't sound like that's the case here. Congrats!

Thanks TA455HO.

I am sure some ppl will say the odometer must have wrapped around but it hasn't. And yes, it's the original seat. I'll post some pics as soon as I can.

The truck does have the usual rust spots for a ford it seems. But it has been kept outside for its whole life, in Canadian winters, so I am fine with the few spots that need to be repaired.

It's one of those stories you wouldn't believe. It actually came from two little old ladies. Lol. Their dad originally bought the truck new to drive to the farm but became ill in a few years. The ladies, who are sisters, didn't end up driving the truck much. The occasional trip to the family farm that was about 3 miles from our small town was how it spent its life. The last half of the trucks 53 years seems to have been spent taking the garbage to the town dump in spring and fall, literally twice a year. That round trip was under three miles too.

It hasn't been moved in five years, up until I brought it home. So ya, excited to get it running and on the road.

Just joined FTE and finding some interesting information. I see you are restoring a low mileage 61 Unibody. I have the same thing which I am currently going through and keeping all original. I have a question you may be able to answer. I have the 223 6cyl engine as you do. I ordered new engine mounts and all the catalogs show the same mount but the ones I took out of mine are different than the ones all the parts houses sell. Did you happen to change the mounts in your truck? If so where did you buy them? The new ones I got are a different diameter and the center bushing does not fit into the lower rubber mount. Any comments would be appreciated.
