weird cubby hole

I have a little cubby hole on the drivers side of my 16 F350. Its on the lower part of the dash by where your knee would be? I pulled it out and it has 2 wires running to it. I was wondering what goes there in place of the filler compartment. I have googled pictures of 2015/2016 interiors and every one that has a clear picture of that area had the same thing. I cant imagine Ford would run wires just to plug them into the back of a plastic filler piece. If anyone knows what the option for that spot is, that would be awesome. Thanks

Possibly a spot for upfitter switches? Doesn't sound like a spot for a trailer brake controller.

Those wires are for the passenger airbag switch that you can install in place of the cubby hole. The crewcab does not come with the switch installed but can be purchased.

Part number for switch is BC3Z-14B268-A.

Ok, so nothing useful then. Was hoping if would be for adding a 110 outlet to the truck.

I found that i never used that pocket on my '14 F250, so when i got my '16 F250 I took the pocket out and used it for a 110v outlet when i put my inverter back in.

Just a useless pocket. Too shallow for anything. I mounted my pot for the high idle rpm control in it. Easy to get to but not easy to bump accidentally.
