Front driveshaft remove broken CV/Carden joint and drive.
My front driveshaft CV/carden joint is shotout and is not a repairable.
Question would this be a good idea if I just machine the CV joint out (remove it permanently).
Will this cause any problems when I drive on 4x4? Or buy a new replacement driveshaft?
Thank you

Welcome to FTE.
This is your 2004 Excursion, right?
Best buy a new driveshaft.
Re-engineering the shaft without the CV can probably be done, but I'd bet you'd be into for more money and a lot more time than a stock replacement.
That pic looks pretty bad--that thing making noise for a few years or did it fail without warning? Best be checking everything else that moves under it methinks.....

I guess is buying a new driveshaft is good option to go right?

I know it's a few weeks old, but just take what you have to a driveline shop. They will be able to cut your trashed yoke out in a lathe and replace it with a new one. Other option is the junkyard but it could be worn also. To answer your question no you can't grind that yoke apart to make it a single cardian. You'll change the legnth of the shaft and even if the yokes work out and you don't have it out of balance it will vibrate. The pinion angle is different for a single cardian vs. double cardian shafts.
