Impacts make it easier/quicker, but I've never used one to change ball joints, and have stuck with hand tools and never had any issues. It's slower and takes more effort, but works without having to go get new tools.
Unless you're planning on buying an impact gun, which is rarely a bad purchase...
Ive never used anything but an impact on my otc balljoint press I bought 20 years ago, Im sure it would suck. Good excuse to buy one if you can sw ing it....gotta invest if youre gonna work on your own stuff
I have run into another issue. Well I don't know if it is one. The bottom joint went in perfect and the snap ring is on. The top one is flat with where it goes in but if you look at the bottom it is at a angle so the snap ring can't go in. The old upper joint was the exact say way too when I took it out.
