So my 77 f150 has a married np203 transfer case......Can I swap it for a married 205 from another truck????
From what I have read is the splines are different and the drive shaft would need to be worked....... am I right??
The reason I ask is I have found a pretty decent donor truck,a 78 with a 205 in it. although I was only looking for the grill and dash bezel and a few other pieces.
But if it is a reasonably easy swap I would grab the case too....

I think you can, someone will let you know soon i am sure . I wanted to say if you can get the whole truck do it . I noticed the past year parts trucks are getting hard to find.
All the NP 203 / 205 married transfer cases should be 31 spline count with round 6 bolt flange pattern from what I've read in regards to these transfer cases. I think front drive line would work but you will need a new rear drive line as the NP203 is wider due to the gearbox / chain case than the NP 205. There could be differences on drive shaft yolks due to a variety of drive lines Ford used in trucks. Check around the internet and I think you will find all Fords used 31 spline round 6 bolt pattern on all of them. Make sure that the transfer case is a NP 205 and not a NP 21 married style as it has different spline count I've been told. This is what I've read and heard from different people over the years and hope this info is useful.
