Mystery Can
On my '08 V10 Auto, there is what looks to be some type of exchanger mounted to the front lower portion of the trans. It is black, round and has the 2 front trans cooler lines going into the right side, and the 2 rear lines going to the left. Can't find it listed on Tasca parts or anywhere for that matter. Is this a filter? An exchanger? A cooler? Is it a wear item? Lifetime?

I had an 08 f-350 and I change that item once....its a bypass transmission filter. its called a bypass becuase you can see thru both of the pathways and the way it works is a small percentage of the fluid goes thru the element rather than all of it like most serial filters. it is a PIA to change becuase the fittings are difficult to work with.
