I'm sorry I was thinking corrosion as in "rust" not oxydization, no I've never worked on outboard motors next time I'll read the whole thread. Sorry I should be smacked in the head.
I wouldn't go that far. seriously aluminum will disolve into a white powdery mess if the conditions are right....Water ,steel, aluminum. Add a little salt and the aluminum will leave town.

Oh yea, I can still remember in 1973 at daytona beach, I had a new harley and with this female companion, we were riding down the beach, going in and out of water (salt). Next morning the salt had dried and all the aluminum was destroyed on bike. Sick is putting it mildly!! After a visit to the local HD shop and many $$$ later is was back to new. Didnt know then, but I know now!!
Did you get the low beam problem solved? I have the same problem. Started last night. I still have highs but no lows. Please let me know what you found out.
Well, I changed out the multifunction switch ($90) and they still didn't work. Then I checked the obvious. I have an SUVLights heavy duty headlight harness. Come to find out, the relays in the harness was burned out. So I spent 120 bucks on a 30 dollar fix. Oh well, now I know to order a few of them from SUV or JCWhitney for a whole lot cheaper than the local parts store and keep them on hand. I meant to check that before I bought the switch but was too lazy.
Oh well, at least now I have a shiny new switch. If anyone needs a multifunction switch, I still have my original one.
When I pulled the switch I took it apart and could see the contacts were melted. you can take them apart and put back together with no trouble or check them with a meter. Sorry i didn,t say how I found it in my last post.
