When I cruise along at 45mph, and the tach is around 1100 rpm and not running hard, no boost it seams like Im in a dead spot in the turbo does this sound right? I've owned the truck since 45k miles, and has always done it, its a 07 f250
That's right, the turbo (centrifugal compressor) has a non-linear characteristic and at higher rpm you're already shifting more air and spinning it faster
With the key and engine off, depress and release the gas pedal about 30 to 50 times. I have found that over time the throttle quadrants will get dirty and get a sort of dead spot in them. By doing this, it has a tendency to clean them. Kinda works like a CD player cleaner without the brush. You should see a difference in throttle response. I do it monthly on my X, ZR1 and Super Bee.
FWIW - Back in 2006 I installed a honeycomb device called a TAG (Turbo Air Guide) at the compressor inlet. This directs the inlet air to the center of the compressor wheel vice the air hitting all over the compressor wheel. It makes the compressor more efficient, reducing lag.
