I don't know what mine was called, or if it even had a name, but it is one of the blue translucent mini-ELM 327 units and works fine (for years now), however the first one was flaky I got from the seller. And it is one of the cheap-o units...

2 things I'd try: 1st get a hold of your eBay seller -- mine was a US seller and immediately shipped me another, no return required: seller was TomTop or something like that but there are a lot of different eBay IDs that go back to the same actual dealer. Get another one on the way to you...

2nd: is I'd start playing with the adapter comm settings from the torque side: turn Off Faster Comms if it is On and Turn On Disable Auto Timing. Since you are getting some PIDs it could be how fast it can interrogate the CAN Bus and get back data correctly.

Good luck!

I'd probably try and get a replacement coming in any case. My El Cheap-o can even handle enabling faster comms -- usually that is turned off when you first load Torque. The first one I got would drop the connection to the PCM pretty often -- I've read that can be a problem when trying to go faster on the communication, but I hadn't even tried doing that with my 1st unit...

I'm sure you'll get it figured out

Yeah I have the same one you have. It's just there's no oil temp reading. It's there just doesn't have a reading. I messaged ebay seller.

Could it be the temp sensor or wiring to it?

Good point, but he was initially saying the FICM readings were low as well. The temps you could swap and see if the problem follows. Since he's just getting started there could be other readings not quite "right", so we'll need to see what else is looking weird in the real time gauges...

OP: Pull up Vref as one of your real time gauges too and see if it is reading 5 volts...

There are different versions of the ELM327. I found out the hard way. You need to make sure you get the right protocol for your truck. I ordered v1.5 and v2.0 first one reads up to 07' and the second 08' and up.

Do some research and make sure it has the Ford protocol for your truck.
