Good afternoon Oregon and everyone everywhere else. Started raining so it seemed like a good time to come inside and hide before anything else goes wrong. Been one of those days when you wished you would have just stayed in bed.
Warden told me the Mercury Sable (wife's commuter car) was acting up. Not something you ever really want to hear, but especially when the car has over 200,000 miles on it. Asked her what the gauges or dummy light were doing. Said all that appeared normal. Said it was smelling hot and cold air was coming out of the heater most of the time. Once in a while she could get some warm air. She did mention that it sputtered and died when she got off the highway and started slowing to a stop.
Took it for a short test drive and within about 2 miles the heat gauge was headed towards the high side of "H" and cold air coming out of the heater. Hoping that all it will be is a thermostat. I'll have to check to see if there is any water in the oil since I have no idea how hot she got it nor how far she drove it in an overheat condition.
So anyway, took her down to the storage yard and got the 2002 Mazda Protégé and brought it home for her to take to work. About 10 minutes after she left for work, she was back. Check engine light on, not wanting to properly shift.
I took her to work in the Buick. Said to heck with it, don't really want to try messing with it so stopped by Corey's auto shop on the way home. Corey wasn't there so I just set up an appointment for the Mazda for next Tuesday.
Jim, I think you are on the right track with that blue car.....seems like a good idea to me anyway. That penny gets you a good start for sure. That long nap must have helped Roy...he can sure come up with some good ideas. lol
So my buddy came over this afternoon, and since he knows a lot about these old engines, we are able to get the 6hp to fire and run. Needs some adjustments and some fine tuning, but it sounds pretty good for 86 yrs old. I'm pretty pleased.
Hope everyone has a nice weekend.
Just went out to the Res and picked up my wife after she got off work at the Casino.
Ran into two problems:
Warden hasn't stopped laughing since I told her she could have the Buick and I would go get the Pretty Blue Mustang GT. I wonder how long I should let her go before I take her to the hospital for a tranquilizer?
Tried selling my sister and have had 3 offers. $500, $700 and $5000. Unfortunately there has been a terrible misunderstanding....that's what they want meto pay them to take her off MY hands! This just isn't going to work out!
