Ha yeah. We get a lot more snow on this side of the mountain than Portland does. All of our snow finally melted off but we had a solid 34 days where the snow was too deep to get anything done. Snow is fun as a kid but having to work outside in it... not as much
Yeah, I'd be perfectly fine if it never snowed again. The city of Omaha, and the state put down so much damn salt, you'd think it was free. No wonder my wheel wells on my 06 are rusting through.....
Wasco county is too poor to buy salt. We get that high dollar sand/gravel mix. Not as many rust issues, but lots of chipped paint on the front of the hood. This is why we drive trucks I guess

They use salt, and a salt brine mix that they put down. the streets are just white with it right now.
Yeah that stuff is nasty. ODOT uses some liquid de-icer on the interstates, but they only use gravel once you get this rural. It doesn't work as well, and can be a bit slippery, but at least we don't have to fight the rust quite as bad as you all do
Good morning Oregon and everyone everywhere else. 41° with a light hazy overcast. Supposed to be a 100% chance of rain and T Storms today.
Partner showed up at O dark 30 and we went looking for ducks. There was a song written for us once, went something like, "I fought the ducks, and the ducks won..." Partner did manage to kill a decoy. I keep trying to tell him that he doesn't have to waste a shotgun shell on those, he can just walk out and pick it up. Them decoys, as a general rule, don't fight back..
Morning Brendon, don't go giving ODOT any stupid ideas....they have been "discussing" salt, but so far have been blocked. We get enough foreigners in Portland / Eugene it could be a different story.
ODOT doesn't need help coming up with stupid ideas. They have that covered all by themselves. For example, a new cell phone tower just went up around here that everybody was super excited about. Turns out it is an ODOT tower only and they don't share towers with any cell providers. I thought we were finally going to get 4g out here. . But salt would be a total nightmare. Snow isn't as hard to drive in as people think. Sand is usually enough
Good evening Oregon and everyone everywhere else. Our attempt at blue sky gave way to dark gray and copious amounts of rain.
Heading out to the ranch/farm now. Need to check on mother and the livestock. Livestock do a good job of behaving, it's mother that I am more worried about.

So very true, but ODOT is always looking for new talent!
Not that I am defending ODOT, but there may have been a good reason they are not leasing any space for Microwave repeaters on the tower. Sometimes the cell phone equipment interferes. Had problems with that and the Law Enforcement network on Cinnamon Butte a number of years ago. In addition, OSP & local LEO repeaters have a funny way of showing up on those towers on a fairly frequent basis.
Are you really certain that that tower is ODOT and not a disguise for tracking alien space craft activity?
