My truck when I got it the 4x4 wouldn't engage. I replace the front inner seals, and the lock outs. Still wouldn't work. Took the shift motor off and freed it up and it worked fin till today. Changed the shift motor and still nothing. This truck has been nothing but problems since I have had it and now this. I don't have the money to take it to a shop and keep replacing parts hoping to find the fix. If you have any ideas please let me know. Truck is going on the market soon and would sell better if the 4x4 worked.
Have you tried turning the hubs from auto to locked? That is assuming it still has factory auto hubs. If the hubs are aftermarket, they HAVE to be manually locked to function. The factory auto hubs can be left in the locked position and then just use the **** to turn 4X4 on and off, although the hubs will remain locked.
Hubs are new and are in Lock. It worked a month ago and didn't work today after 8 inches of snow. Auto has never worked in the truck since I have had it.
I've had problems with the 4x4 since I have bought the truck, works when it wants to. Worked a month ago just fine. Lock outs are new, inner seals are new, shift motor is new, running out of parts to replace. Fuses are all good. Might try a new 4x4 switch and see if it works.
Seems loke your mad ar spending money on the wrong parts. No point in replacing hubs and seals when you didnt properly check step by step for the problem. And it turned out to be a ten dolllar relay, yes the auto hubs can be a problem but with proper maintenance they work beautifully whenever u need them
