I was once blueovalkid86 now it's fordboy300 both referring to my pickup which is a 1986 ford f150 that has the good old 300 six. This is a neat thread.
Mine is one of the two variations from the old helpdesk days of:
"I'm sorry ma'am/sir, it seems to be a pebcak problem. Call back tomorrow and it should be fixed." Little did they know the "Problem Exists Between Chair And Keyboard"
pebkac was always used and in the mid 90's no one used pebcak so I started using it.
Just my initials: MG. Thirty years ago I startled my wife who asked who was there. I stammered, m... g... (mild cognitive impairment?) which became emgee. It stuck.

A modern day version of "FUBAR"....
What goes around,comes around.
Keep those reasons coming ! It is very interesting to hear how user's choose their names. Believe it or not....this IS history in the making. In the digital age, there will be those who research history as we have in the past. Unlike days gone by when searches relied on paper records from Ellis Island, it will all be digital. A silly word like Google has taken the place of the local library where all of our known history resided. I have shoe boxes full of family photographs dating back to the early 1900's, that cannot be seen unless the family actually sits down to see them, but, if they were digitized....they would be cemented in history forever given today's technology.
We all have a legacy to be documented.......Cement your story !
My user name is pretty boring, something I've used for years. It's a combination of my initials and my Zip code at the time.
A good friend had a great user name at another forum: "Between3and32characters". I was always jealous of his extreme literal humor. When he signed up, everybody got a prompt that your user name must be between 3 and 32 characters...
Mine is probably pretty obvious, but the spelling was used because the correct spelling was already in use on my first forum. I like to whistle especially old hymns.
Wife’s nephew when 4 years old had a VCR tapethat a guy on it had a beard and called him Fuzz Face. When I was brought intothe family I had a beard, still do and he called me Fuzz Face. So when I joined my first forum I used itbut FuzzFace1 was used so Fuzz Face2 ithas been. Dave ----

It seems to me that more people have "FuzzFace" today then say, 20 or 30 years ago.
Mine is about as un-creative as it gets... first initial/last name.
I do appreciate the names that you "clever" folks have come up with... and in retrospect... I should probably have put more thought into it.
I'll confess that sometimes it's just easier (and somehow more personal) to address a thread reply to a real name than, say, buzzlightyear12 (my apologies if someone actually has that name! )

I, too, like to address people by their given name.
