52 Steering Box Steering Sector question

I have a question on rebuilding my 1952 F-1 steering box. I have searched the threads on here and I'm sure it has been answered, but I have obviously missed it. I apologize if it has been asked and answered before.

My worm gear was in horrible shape, so I bought a new one.

I also got the new roller that rides on the worm and goes in the steering sector shaft (7RC-3575). This comes with the new roller, needle bearings, pin, and the spacer washers on either side

The new spacer washers and roller assembly are about 11 mils thicker than the ones I removed. They won't fit in the slot in the sector. I tried using the old spacer washers with the new roller and they are still about 6 mils too thick.

I'm gonna need to put the spacers on a surface grinder and takes some material off. My question is:

Does anyone know what the clearance should be between the roller/spacer assembly and the slot in the sector shaft? I guess I could just make the new assembly the same as the old one, but after years of operation it could be worn and actually too big. I'd like to know what it is supposed to be.

Thanks in advance for your answers.

I would think the slop on the sector roller should be very minimal, just enough for it to move freely. No specs or guidance anywhere in the manual. I've never had my sector roller out, but it had no significant side play.

Agree with what Ross said above. Any movement there will translate to unwanted slop in the steering. Hand fit the spacer as you plan. Everything in a steering box should be snug, not binding, and free.
