09 F350,6.4 Won't Start

Had the fuel filters changed last Saturday, truck ran fine all week, started the truck yesterday and it ran for less than a minute and shut off, restarted with little effort, drove 10 miles, parked and two hours later it wont start, wrench symbol displayed, scanner from auto zone says No codes.

did you use a motorcraft primary filter and install the filter with the air bleed hole at the 12:00 position?

my bet is that the primary filter that was used is not a motorcraft and if it is...it was installed with out reguard to the position of the air bleed hole.

also, there is a 6 cycle ingnition on and off before running it to bleed out all the air.

on the secondary filter...there is often a white gel that has to cleaned out on the inside.

you should also drain the primary frequently to prevent water accumilation.

post back the results.

You were right, cheap filter with no bleed hole. I have replaced both filters with the bleed hole at 12:00. Can you tell me about the on off x 6 cycle?

It something like turn the key with out trying to start it , wait 20 seconds with the key in the ready position, then turn the key off. Do that 6 times it bleeds all the air out. Then start it.

Every thing worked fine yesterday. Truckbran great. This morning is a different story. Running ragged. Lots of clatter, stuttering.
