Broke my steering stablilzer

Today I noticed I broke my steering stabilizer shock. It it broke at the connection on the piston arm where it connects to the steering linkage and the piston shaft is bent. Guess it happened when I hit a rock Thursday. I am thinking of purchasing the Rancho 9000 adjustable shock as a replacement, any advice? I do not do much off road driving and what I do is very moderate. This is for a 04 Excursion, 4x4, 6.0PSD, with 285 all terrain tires, no lift.

I put the bilstein steering stabilizer on my excursion about a month ago. Mine was leaking badly - it made a big difference. Easy swap.

Previous ex, I used a single Bilstein.... Current ex, dual Bilsteins.... Like the quality.

Just put the Bilstein on mine a month ago. I can vouch for it being far superior to what was on mine. Huge difference driving at hwy speeds.

I haven't been able to find a Bilstein in my area and don't have the time to wait for one to come in if I were to order online. I'll have to put on the Rancho and go from there. I have been driving around with the broken one for the last few days and won't be able to put it on till Tuesday, weather in the Dallas/Fort Worth area has been bad this weekend.

Thanks for all of the advice, maybe I'll put a Bilstein on when I do a bunch of modifications this spring.

I threw on a KYB one from RockAuto and am pretty happy with it, definitely a beefier design versus the OEM and came with a new bracket.

Are you buying the 9000 adjustable shock meant for use on the suspension and planning on using it as a steering dapper ? Or are you buying a rancho 9000 series steering dampener ?

If you are buying the 9000 steering dampener then I do not think they are adjustable like the wheel shocks are. I only point this out so if you were thinking that you could change the valving to dial it in to your needs. Also, as I have never cut open a 9000 adjustable shock I can't say for sure if it will function correctly on its side.
