I have used several tuners to include DP, Edge, Superchips and a Hydra w Gearhead tunes by Matt.

Gearhead wins hands down. Nailed it perfectly on the first try after speaking with him over the phone.

Anybody can tune your TS chip (if they are willing to take on someone else's chip), but it involves contacting the tuner, arranging for the arrival of the chip, then yanking it from the truck and sending it in for a reburn.

Or... do what many have been doing for the last two years and order a Hydra. The Hydra has several tuners supporting it (Gearhead sells them as well), and any changes to the tuning can be downloaded from the net or emailed to you. No more yanking your chip for the sake of a tweak or a new tune.

Just google PHP hydra and a number of places will pop up, anyone can write tunes to it after you get it so it doesn't really matter where you buy it from, plus you will automatically have access to PHP's library of tunes to try if you want from the get go.

Tony Wildman, Bill Cohron, BTS, and Matt @ Gearhead, just to name a few can write tunes for the Hydra. Gearhead has done the best for many of the folks that I ridden with and that is why they have my most recent and future business.

I am sure someone will correct me if this is not correct, I think that Bill with PHP maintains the library that Rikster mentioned.

Generally the tune is blamed when the engines physical performance fails in some way.. I had very hard shifts while chipped that ultimately lead to a low boost issue with the up pipes.. I got my boost back up to 20 psi+ and the slam shifts stopped.

Not being a troll here but would like to understand how low boost was causing the hard shifts? Thanks.

Is boost not dictated by the tune to a large extent, especially when there are not leaks on the hot or cold side of the equation? Or am I misreading this?

I had the issue with my bullydog 6pos chip(600$ programmer) and a custom dp tuner flash(150$ flash). Had extremely heavy smoke , lunge shift then a slam shift.. These issues went away completely when I fixed the performance issues by adding manifold gaskets and new bellowed up pipes.. Not sure but if the truck isn't up to par or something is changed manually a tuner will only make things worse.. Ever been jogging with a cold?

Also when I removed my Bullydog the truck seemed right again because the power was back to factory settings.. The issues came right back with the flash

I had the same problem. I had tunes for a stock engine but had a modified valve body and the shifts were r-o-u-g-h outside of the stock setting. The vendor was very helpful (I had another shifting issue too) and got the chip reburned for modified valve body (at no extra cost) and things are great now.
