I have been reading the forums for a while and after reading what seems like 100's of recommendations to get the 4.30 rear end, on a F250 Gasser I started the search.
If I didn't know any better I would think that the 4.30 rear end was a myth.
I have talked to a local dealer and he said that he found one about 250 miles away but was not interested in bringing it in unless I put money down.
I ran the search routines on a couple of car finder sites (cargurus, cars.com, etc) and no 4.30's either.
I went to the Ford.com "build and price page", and they don't show any either. Their search routine lists a lot vehicles that show what are suppose to be matches but when you start looking at the window stickers for the results they don't match what you are looking for.
Can tell me of a accurate search routine to try?
Why are the 4.30 rear end vehicles so hard to find?
Because 4.30 is the best gear ratio available from the factory for these gas engines if you are gonna do any towing or hauling. Unfortunately most dealers spec 3.73 because most buyers are more worried about gas mileage in their 8000 pound truck. 4.30 trucks are out there but you might have to drive a ways to find one or special order it.
I haven't seen a 4.30 equipped truck on the lot for quite a while. Last one I saw was a nice super cab long box Lariat F250. Most dealers won't stock them because you lose about 1-1.5mpg when compared with the 3.73's. I specially ordered my truck and made sure to get it with the 4.30, even though I don't tow much I figured they might come in handy is I choose to upsize the tires down the road.
I will probably end up ordering one, but the $2500 rebate offer ends 1/4/16, and in order to get the rebate you have to take delivery from the dealer by the 4th.

Thanks for the info. I have read the 1-1.5 MPG figure as well, but after reading a lot of the posts and trying to decipher the usage of the trucks, it the mileage hit seems to be more for highway use, a lot of the posts that discuss in town and slower driving and/or towing are getting better or equal mileage with the 4.30 because it can maintain a higher gears in the hills.

that sounds about right. My truck gets a pretty consistent mileage of 13.5 in the summer and around 12-12.5 in the winter. The best I've gotten on a long interstate trip is right at 14. If I do a lot of short 10-12 mile trips or driving around town my mileage drops to around 12/summer and in the 11's/winter. Towing I get mid 9's when pulling a 16ft 7000lb enclosed trailer.

4.30 truck pictured. I ordered it, but they have a red one in stock. Love the ratio. No regrets.
4.30s in a 250 are like hens teeth you will probably just end up ordering 1 if you really want the torque out of the gas. They do make the world of difference for little lose in mileage.
I ordered my 2016 f350 with 4.30 gears. Even if I didn't tow heavy with the truck, I would still opt for the 4.30 gear ratio. For instance, if you decide to install a lift and larger tires, the 4.30's will perform a lot better than the 3.73's. As far as the rebates, my dealer informed me that a purchase and sales agreement along with a deposit locks in all rebates.
